Portland Cement Type Five

Portland cement type five: in accordance with EN 197-1

This type of cement is used in concretes that are exposed to the strong effects of sulfates and is mainly used in soils where groundwater or groundwater is high in sulfate.

The growth trend of resistance of this type of cement is slower than type one cement. The high resistance of type five cement to sulfates is due to the low amount of “tricalcium aluminate”.

Advantages and specifications of type five cement:

* High resistance to sulfates

* Use in piers, bridge piers and marine works

* Concreting with this type of cement in cold weather and ambient temperature less than 5 degrees Celsius is not recommended.
